Normally I try to stay away from controversial topics; however, this Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner media frenzy is making me have an opinion.
Two days ago Bruce Jenner died & Caitlyn Jenner was created. I’ve been reading a lot of comments about this ordeal but today I read “It’s Kris fault!? She didn’t do enough as his wife to give him what he needed.”
Today, on Facebook, Adrienne Bell, of Wifeability, posted an interesting comment:
That got me to thinking (yes dangerous for me to be thinking), how much responsibility do we as wives take for our husbands actions?
Stay with me. Don’t get all hot in the collar yet.
I read and re read her statement plus I read the comments. She has a really good point: WE ARE OUR HUSBANDS KEEPER!
I know y’all are saying, but the husband is the leader. He suppose to protect his wife.
I hear ya but really in marriage, we are one. We protect and be there for each other.
But just how much of that responsibility should the wife take on?
What if he is an alcoholic? A gambler? A cheater?
This is not a time for us to talk about if he is right for being Caitlyn. Look a little deeper and let’s talk about the role the wife plays in marriage.
As a wife, our responsibilities are to be our husbands:
- a helpmate
- Supporter
- Confidant
- Lover
- Friend
- Spirtual partner
- Gap filler (where he falls weak, we fill in)
- Prayer warrior
It’s easy for us to have an opinion about the Jenner marriage but when we see couples (celebrity or everyday) not bonding, no chemistry and just on their own agenda, you can definitely see where it could be easy for the enemy to infiltrate.
In marriage, we must be a protector of our husband or wife short comings and weaknesses. Cover them with prayer in those areas, because if they aren’t spiritually covered the enemy will prey on those things to destroy them and your marriage.
Their weaknesses are not the time for us to immediately abandon them; or Seek escape from them by throwing ourselves into our kids or work. Instead, we must do our due diligence in staying in our role and uplift, support and pray for our spouse.
It’s no secret that marriages are under attack. The enemy will use anything or anybody to destroy marriages and the minds and hearts of husbands and wives.
It doesn’t have to be a change of gender. It could be loss of job, cheating, finances or even self esteem. The devil is sneaky. Keep the lines of communication open. Cover your spouse. Cover your marriage. Cover yourself. in prayer.
You are your spouse keeper! Act like it!
Just what role do you have in helping your husband in his troubled time/mind?
I would love to hear your comments on this topic (not on the right or wrong of Bruce being Caitlyn). Share your comments below
