Every step, action & word you use has the possibility of destroying relationships if you don’t think before you (re)act. Paula Deene situation should be a learning example for us all. Her seemingly innocent conversation is having an affect on everyone and everything associated with Paula.
Marriage is about connecting two people with a past to join as one & enjoy a future together. Yes we all have a past. Yesterday is our past. It’s what you do today that will eventually be your past that can destroy your RIGHT NOW (present).
Yes you are an individual and accountable for your own actions but your accountability as a spouse goes farther than YOU! Stop thinking about self & start thinking about how your words and actions could affect your family, your spouse, your livelihood.
4 Steps to release your past shame and hurts:
- Acknowledge your actions
- Own up to what you did. Don’t shift the blame.
- Be truthful about it to your spouse.
- Decide not to partake in things of that nature ever again.
Paula thought what she did was harmless but she failed to think about the consequences of her actions & how it would impact her family, her brand. Lets Not get on a tangent about what she said, this post is about ACCOUNTABILITY FOR OUR ACTIONS
So when you want to do something that you hope NO ONE finds out about, that’s the one thing you shouldn’t do. If you will be embarrassed if your spouse finds out then guess what you shouldn’t do it.
A simple action can take seconds to do but take a lifetime to get over.
