I’ve been cruising since 1997. Every year to every two years, i go on a cruise. Cruising affords me and my family the opportunity to visit multiple countries at once and taste some of the best food ever. On our most recent cruise, my family had the pleasure of experiencing a modified version of Carnival Cruise Line Chef’s Table. The reason I say modified is because it was just my family on the tasting tour.
Carnival Cruise Line Chef’s Table option
Carnival Cruise Line Chef’s Table is an add on experience where guests are privy to meet the chefs & go behind the scenes to the kitchen galley and also the 12 guests enjoy a specific menu of appetizers, main course and desserts.
I was pleased to meet Head chef, Sumanta, on Carnival Triumph. He and his staff were very excited to meet my family and I and tell us about the organization it takes to manage the feeding of the 1100 guests on board the Triumph.
Chef Sumanta told us he has a staff of 26 that manages all the cooking on-board the Triumph for the breakfast and dinner meals in the main dining room. Did y’all read that? 26! Yes there are only 26 team members on the cooking staff for the main dining rooms. Amazing….!
The Chef’s Table Experience
My family had the privilege of taking a tour of the kitchen galley on the Carnival Triumph. We were able to taste the food on the menu for the formal night.
The Chef’s Table Experience includes an 8 course meal served with champagne and wine. This experience cost but the foodie in you will appreciate the experience.
The presentation of the whole night is not without a well thought out execution plan. Every food plate had a special touch and no detail was left out.
I would recommend signing up for the Chef’s Table to any and all foodies.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this event/experience. Attend with an empty stomach because even though you are “tasting” you taste enough to get full.
Have you experienced Carnival Cruise Line Chef’s Table?

I havent tried a cruise yet but I know I want to one day and check out all that great food. I think I would be so lazy on a cruise ship, but we need to be like this sometimes 🙂

I would LOVE this. I never even knew about a chef’s table until I watched Hell’s Kitchen and now I totally want to experience it at least once in my life.

Wow! With all of the food and places to eat I hear there are on a cruise ship I would have thought there were more than 26 staff members. I’ve been wanting to cruise for a number of years now.

Love Carnival Cruise Line’s Chef’s Table. I am cruising in April and have already reserved a spot for my mom and me. It is definitely one of my favorite onboard activities and a dining MUST! Funny thing I’ll be onboard the Triumph! If Chef Sumatra is our onboard chef, I’ll be sure to tell him he comes highly recommended.

I am a foodie and I have heard great things about cruises. I’m terrified of getting seasick though so I’ve never been.

How fun to get to do! I think we all decide to feel a little pampered and getting to do this with all of the yummy food as well as the attention to detail would be great! I have actually never been on a cruise, it is something I want to do for sure.

What a lovely opportunity! I think it’s really lovely that you got to taste the dishes and tour the kitchen as well. Not everyone can say that they’ve done this. It’s definitely worth it to try this dinner when you’re on the cruise! The food looks amazing.
