Spring is my favorite time of year. This is the time of year that you can start your gardening and we are having two gardens this year: an indoor container garden and a big garden outside. We had so much success with our big garden last year, that I have decided to try my hand at indoor container gardening.
Anyone that knows anything about starting a hobby, it is expensive to start due to having to buy everything you need for your new hobby. Yes, we want to grow our own food but we really don’t want to spend a lot of money to start our indoor container garden.
I am always looking for frugal ways to finance my hobbies and I was really shocked when I saw some items at Target. We were in Target one day & I love the $1 or $3 spot. Guess what I found in the spot: vegetable seeds! Yes, Target has garden items for the frugal gardener!
We are having an indoor container garden but we also have a big garden outside. The items we found at Target will be part of our container garden.
Items needed for an indoor container garden:
- Seeds or Starter Plants: Purchase seeds or starter plants for the vegetables and herbs you would like to grow inside.
- Containers: Use containers that are food and gardening friendly. The containers would need a good drainage system. If the containers you choose do not have holes in the bottom, make sure to make a few holes for water drainage.
- Soil: You will need potting soil. Get a good grade of potting soil to use in your container garden.
- Fertilizer: Yes, you will need fertilizer to feed your plants.
- Water: Rain water is best but if you don’t have rain water, use good ole tap water. I store water in recycled plastic containers so my water is room temperature in order not to shock my plants.
- Sunlight: You need a place that will give your plants 6 full hours of sunlight
Starting an indoor container garden is not hard nor should it break the bank. Take a look around Target and get started on your Spring hobby. Find the items you guys need to do a project with your spouse.
What Spring project will you and your spouse start this year?
*This is not a sponsored post. This is just me sharing with you what I found at Target. *

I saw these in Target and didn’t even stop to see what they were! Now I have to go back. The kids have been begging for a garden but we don’t have the space. But a container garden we can do!

This is genius! We really want to start a garden with the kids this year, and I was planning to hit up the hardware store this weekend. We’ll stop at the dollar spot at Target instead! I love how inexpensive this is.
