You know we enjoy date night and look for ways to spice up our “normal” date night activities. So when I was approached by Olive Garden to review their new three course Italian dinner from their new Cucina Mia menu, I was like “heck yeah.” You know I already love Olive Garden and to be able to go & eat on their dime, we was super happy.
As most of you know, Olive Garden is our Go To date night location. We really enjoy the ambiance of Olive Garden and the food is delicious. We go so much, that we know the chef name and he knows our order when he sees it. But this night, we got an opportunity to try something new.
I was eager to try the new Cucina Menu, not only for its value, but because I am able to create my own pasta entree by choosing from six unique pastas and five made from scratch sauces. So you know what that means: I am an Italian chef for the night without the years of culinary school training or having to clean up the kitchen.
I had fun trying to figure out which variety of pasta I would choose from: whole wheat linguine, tri-colored vegetable Penne, gluten free Rotini, or the classic pasta choices. Then getting to choose my own pasta sauce and toppings was like a kid being let loose in a toy store with no budget.
Well, we did choose our pastas and enjoyed the unlimited bread sticks and (He had) soup and (I had) salad.
Overall, we had a great night. Date night is so important in our household. We like to get dressed and date like its our first time meeting. Date nights isn’t about the food or location, even though they help set the tone for the night, its more about connecting with your spouse.
My husband and I always have fun on our date nights and that night was no different. Well, yes it was because I acted like I was in Italy and tried to talk with another accent. (you know I have a Southern accent so you can imagine what I sounded like)
Oh well, y’all should visit Olive Garden for a date night and tell them The Kings sent ya!
What are your plans for date night this weekend?
