Valentine’s day is around the corner and it’s the perfect time to show your partner some extra love! If you’re looking for a fun and easy way to add some romance into your love life, try writing a romantic love note. Love notes are a great way to ignite passion and romance back into your relationship.
Here are 4 steps to writing the perfect love note for your spouse.
1. Know your intentions. Are you feeling naughty or nice?
What is your desired outcome? Is this note a precursor to a night of passion or do you want your partner to feel loved and appreciated? Or both? Your love note should evoke an emotion, feeling or a visual that’s in alignment with your desired outcome. Start with the end result in mind.
2. Get Inspired:
If you’re in need of some romantic inspiration, turn to your favorite love songs. I like listening to the classics like The Isley Brothers, Al Green and Marvin Gay. Their classic love songs are filled with great love stories and beautiful words that can help jumpstart your inspiration. Don’t be afraid to use a line or two from your favorite love song to help you build on your love note.
3. Be Creative:
If I had to guess, I’ll bet that your love is no ordinary love. So why write an ordinary love note? This is your chance to let the love of your life know exactly how you feel. If you want to kick it up a notch, give your partner something to anticipate, like a romantic dinner for two or a night of passion. Add your own personal flavor and remember that a love note should excite and entice!
4. Love note placement and presentation.
What you say is almost as important as setting the mood. You can create a mood with the placement and presentation of your love note. Set a romantic mood and seal your love note with a kiss and tuck it in your partner’s wallet or purse to create an element of surprise. Add a small token or gift to your love note, like a red rose or a clue about the night’s plans, for a personalized touch.
I really enjoy writing my husband love notes. One of the things we have started doing is writing our history in a journal. We are using Love Stories. Love Store is is a memory keepsake journal to curate their journey together. We love the prompts in this journal and we really love reading what the other one has written for the prompts.
If you are not able to write a regular love note to your spouse, I highly recommend picking up Love Stories and start journaling your marriage in this personal “diary” that you can share with your spouse.
QUESTION: When was the last time you wrote your spouse a love letter? What was their response?
