I probably don’t have to tell you how cold it’s been the last couple of weeks. Most of the United States have seen snow, ice, sleet, just nasty weather. The weather is keeping us from having a date night outside of the house so we have decided to have date night inside the house. What is most comforting on a cold day besides your spouse? Yep, you guessed it SOUP!

Slow Cooker Potato soup recipe
Ingredients
4-5 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
50 baby carrots, chopped (I didn’t really chop up 50 baby carrots because umm that was cramping my hand)
1 onion, chopped
2Tbs celery flakes (or cut 2 stalks fresh celery)
2 cups chicken broth
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2 cups of water
Salt and pepper, to taste
3Tbs cornstarch
1/2 pint heavy cream
1teaspoon tarragon
1lb breakfast sausage
[bctt tweet=” Don’t allow bad weather to stop you from having a date night. Get creative and have a date night at home. ” username=”datingmyspouse”]
Cooking Instructions
1. Cook breakfast sausage
2. Drain sausage & squeeze excess oil from sausage using a paper towel
3. Place all ingredients, except heavy cream, in Bella crockpot
4. Cook on low for 8 hours
5. 1 hour before serving add heavy cream
Serve with cheese & crackers.
Eat Soup and Snuggle
We are some movie buffs but we also like binge-watching TV series. So we prepared the potato soup and got comfy on the couch and turned on Netflix.
We find new shows to watch on Netflix all the time. Our favorites right now are:
-Life (the TV series) (finished watching it)
-Lie to Me
-Nikita (we just started watching this & is hooked)
-House of Cards (season premiere 2/27)
Plus we are able to watch the shows from our childhood and laugh because we can’t believe we use to watch them.
The point is: there is no excuse not to date your spouse. Cold or bad weather shouldn’t keep you from being intentional about the quality time you and your spouse spend together.
How do you and your spouse date during bad weather days?

Soup and movies are such a great idea when there’s a storm out. You just have to remember to get teh soup done and the movie watched before the power goes out!

Eating potato soup and watching Netflix is my kind of date. Our anniversary was this week and we couldn’t go anywhere due to the weather but that was fine. I would rather stay in where it’s nice and warm anyway. 🙂
