My husband is from Savannah, GA and I am ashamed to say that we have never “really” been to Tybee Island. Well, when I say “really” we have driven to Tybee Island before but it was never warm enough for us to actually go on the beach. I couldn’t believe that we have never enjoyed Tybee Island or the beach. Well, well, well we have finally ENJOYED TYBEE ISLAND.
Oh my, I was so excited to get to Tybee Island and lay out on the beach. Tybee Island is about 20 minutes east of Savannah, GA. The drive is so lovely. I was so amazed and asking my husband all kinds of questions. The marsh land, the long roads, the clear skies that guide you into the small island of Tybee helps build up your excitement to get to the beach.
Visiting Tybee Island
Once we got into Tybee Island, it was a small quaint little “island.” You enter the island seeing stores that sale everything beach related. If you have forgotten your beach towels, goggles, cooler, or even your surf board don’t worry because you can purchase all of those items on the island.
I thought it was really cool how the houses and condos are situated on the island. And to get to the beach, you park off the beach and walk down to the beach.
Oh but when you get to the beach, it is breath taking! Tybee Island offers fishing off the pier, an old lighthouse, museums, kayaks and bike rentals. Plus there are some great restaurants with fresh seafood on the menu.
We had a ball! I enjoyed laying out on the beach and just soaking up the sun and watching the waves. My husband and godson enjoyed playing with the surf board. They stayed in the water. We even played football out on the sand. Me and the little man even tried our hand at building sand castles. (We wasn’t successful)
There are so many things you can do and spend hours on the beach. If you are looking for a fun, relaxing beach to visit, I highly recommend Tybee Island. To plan your trip to Tybee Island visit www.visittybee.com

How fun! I’m a GA native, and I have to admit that I have never been to Tybee during beach season. We may have to remedy that soon.

I haven’t been to Tybee Island either but I have wanted for a long time. I need to make it a date with my family to go. Maybe we can do one last weekend at the beach.
