Whoo hooo! Its summertime and that mean we can get out the house & have more outdoors date night.
There is just something about being in nature with the one you love the most. The calmness and serenity of the environment relaxes you.
So my first date night suggestion of the summer is FISHING!
We personally have not gone fishing but the hubby told me we will attempt fishing this summer. Neither of us has gone fishing. This is one of the reasons I would definitely like to go but the other reason is all the fun and laughs we will have.
I’m envisioning that date to be the most hilarious thing ever.
One of the couples of Still Dating My Spouse Facebook page enjoys fishing. So I am using their story today to let you know just how beneficial fishing can be.
Fishing as a date activity, really?
Read what Mr. & Mrs. Jackson had to say about fishing:
“Fishing is my husband and I get-away time. The drive is about 50 miles, so we talk the entire trip. While I am not a pro at fishing, I love my husband teaching me. We do talk while we are out there; while laughing a lot when the bait leaves my pole and the fish gets away. But the most satisfying thing to me is watching the “Big” smile on his face when I reel a fish in. PRICELESS. This is our “special” time. “
Oh, I so want to go fishing. I can see it now, me squeamish of touching the fish and the bait. LOL I’m sure I can hold the fishing pole in the water! LOL I can see me and the hubby now laughing at each but making great memories together.
This is what date night is all about: connecting, laughing, talking, and making memories!
What do you think about fishing as a dating activity?
Send me pictures of your fishing date expedition.

This is so on time. I literally JUST told my husband Sunday that I wanted to go fishing. He laughed at me because Im 8 months pregnant, hate bugs and porta potties! But aside from all of that, all I could think about was special bonding time we would have!

I would have never thought about fishing as a date. Do you have other dating ideas. It just so happens that I am collecting them for my new book and I would give you contributor credit in a best selling book?

My hubby loves to fish! Me not so much! So when we purchased our home on the lake ..I thought what am I going to do! I read and he fishes! That way I am out of his way while he fishes ….but right there to talk and laugh! The funniest thing that every happened was about 20 years ago….he was fishing on the dock. After my shower I walked down and sat down beside him. All of a sudden a bird pooped on my head! ICKY! We started laughing … so hard..I would hardy breath! To this day it still brings a smile to our faces! We have some really great memories of our time together while he fishes and I read!

My hubby and I used to go fishing all the time- We have stayed out until the sun came out laughing and talking about the big and little things in life. When we camp, we still sneak off to have a date of fishing after the little one goes to sleep. Some of my best memories with my hubby are of fishing- and catching crawfish!

I really want to go fishing too! I think hubby and I will try it out soon.

Personally, I love the idea of going fishing for a date! Kicking back on the banks with my sweetie would be fabulous! We haven’t done that in years without the kids, so I’ll definitely have to put that on our “to do” list 😉

Stopping from the Pitch Social Hop! I think fishing sounds like a great idea! I’m a real outdoorsy type of person. I grew up in Alaska where people from all over come to fish, but unfortunately I only went a couple times when I was a kid 🙁 I really regret my dad not taking me more often. I think when we move back to the mainland I’d like hubby and I to learn so that we can teach our kids 🙂

Savannah,
Thanks for stopping by! LOL you know we rarely take advantage of the stuff that is in our city/town so I understand about you not fishing a lot when you lived in Alaska. OH but please have a date with the hubby fishing when you guys get back.

I think it’s a great idea! I have gone fishing a few times and it is definitely time consuming, so that’s a lot of time well spent with your spouse. Also, sometimes fishing requires a little team work.

I don’t know about fishing as a date for us. It would end up with my hubby fishing and me sitting in the car reading a book. We don’t have a babysitter, so we usually enjoy date night at home (take-out for dinner, a good movie, and being able to stay in jammies!) It doesn’t sound romantic but it’s great!

fishing is great if you like it.

This is a great idea! Ok, so this is what I do for a living, so I may be biased. I just taught a fishing class for women at my store. One of the women was taking the class as a refresher course because she and her husband were retired and trying to get a hobby they both agreed on. He had a surprise trip planned and told her she should take the class!
My husband and I fish all the time! We have many good memories from fishing together. Great post!

We live behind a lake and go fishing all the time!

Never would have though of this as a date. We do go fishing when we visit my husbands Grandpa a few states away. We usually have the kids, and it’s a family event…. well more like a 3 ring circus! Would be nice to just sit and talk to him alone and fish. It would be nice to have some “us” time. Thanks for the idea!!! 😉
Still Dating My Spouse says
Amanda,
Maybe have a fishing day with the whole family then have one for you & the hubby. The experience will be totally different.
