It is Spring Break time again. It seems like these kids gets more days out of school than they are in school. Oh well, the 10 year old, wanted to do something fun for Spring Break.
With everyone in Memphis out for Spring Break, I knew that trying to do something in the city would be met with crowds and unruly kids. Y’all know I don’t do well with bad ass kids!
Anyway…
I opened up the Yelp app and typed in a few cities that would be in driving distance from Memphis that we could spend Spring Break.
We ended up deciding to visit Columbus, OH.
Yep, Columbus, OH.
No real plans just headed to Columbus.
We packed up the wagon and headed to Columbus!
Anyone that knows me, know I’m a planner but for this trip I stepped out my comfort zone and went on a trip that I only planned a day before we left. Yes, I was in a slight panic mode!
I made us reservations at a Choice Hotel, Comfort Inn and Suites. The hotel I choose wasn’t centrally located but it was surrounded by restaurants and right off the highway!
I found the hotel with no problem. Skeptical because, umm, I don’t normally stay in Choice Hotels property but this Comfort Inn and Suites was decent.
Our room was clean and spacious. The 10 year old was just happy to stay in a hotel + he got to sleep on a pullout bed!
The hotel offered a continental breakfast every morning. So, for the price of the room, the hotel was acceptable.
The first day, we opted to enjoy one of the hotel amenities: the pool!
My boy really thinks he can swim but umm he cannot!
We were able to enjoy the pool uninterrupted. He swam so long that his fingers were wrinkled when he got out.
So Day 1 was a success!
For Day 2, we visited a local attraction, Magic Mountain.
Magic Mountain Fun Center is an all inclusive play center for kids and families. They have Miniature Golf, Go-Karts, Interactive Arcade and Redemption Games, Batting Cages, Bumper Boats, Bumper Cars and more games depending on the location you visit!
We spent 4 hours at Magic Mountain Fun Center. We had a ball.
We got on the bumper cars:
I even beat the youngin in miniature golf:
After golfing and bumper cars, he wanted to go inside and play laser and the video games.
My baby had a ball playing here. He received tickets with each game he played that he used to exchange for a prize.
I think him choosing a prize took the longest time! The options was too much for him! But he had enough tickets to win a bow and arrow set!
I must say, day 2 was AMAZ-BALLS!
For Day 3, we went to Columbus Zoo. I’m a zoo lover, so anytime we visit a city that has a zoo, I try to go.
What can I say about this zoo? It is amazing.
We walked and walked. Read everything we could about all the animals. The different areas and the layout of the zoo is pretty cool.
If you are an animal lover, I would recommend that you visit the Columbus Zoo if you are in town.
I must say, Spring Break 2016 was everything he wanted:
-stay in a hotel ✔️
-Drive indoor cars ✔️
-Have fun ✔️
Columbus wasn’t on my radar but I’m glad we decided to mini vacation there. We didn’t touch the surface to everything available for families and couples to do in Columbus.
I will put this on our list to visit again.
