Things to keep in mind when planning a date with your spouse:
- Do something fun and new that you both would enjoy
- KISS (Keep it simple sweetie)
- HAVE FUN!
Why date your spouse
Dating your spouse has nothing to do with spending money or going to a fancy restaurant, it’s about bonding and nurturing your relationship. The day to day goings of your life makes it hard to justify taking time out your “busy” schedule to date your spouse. It’s sad but true for so many couples.
I understand because there was a time when we were like ships passing in the night. Work, school, children, church, and sleep took precedence over us spending time together. Missing the opportunity to slow down & smell the flowers with your spouse is so important. It strengthens your bond and connection with each other. So MAKING the time to DATE YOUR SPOUSE is must.
When you feel like you are in a rut and just don’t have time to spend with your spouse, I want you to stop and remember the early days of when you guys meet and were “dating.” Oh, I see you smiling and remembering how you dreamed about talking to and spending time with your spouse. How you couldn’t wait to hear about their day and just be in their presence. Yep, that’s exactly how you should feel even after marriage.
Take advantage of every chance you get to spend quality time with your spouse. Dating your spouse doesn’t have to be a must leave the house situation. Express your love and wanting to connect with your spouse in various loving and heartfelt ways.
Don’t let your marriage become monotonous and boring. Keep it fun, exciting, warm and loving. Give your spouse the undivided attention they deserve and let them feel that they are still wanted and loved by you.
I know it’s not easy when you have kids and other responsibilities but remember your spouse should be to priority. So carve out time every day to connect-to date! Stop making excuses for why you cannot date your spouse. Remember “you make it do what it do for the things you want to do.”
