If you are like most couples, you are a two-income family. Having time to spend together is difficult at best. The new year is here and if you are anything like us, we have to plan out our trips for the year. When you have career, family, kids, and just life responsibilities, you and your spouse are in need and yearning for some alone time.
Unfortunately with today’s economy the way it is, many couples are faced with the fact that they cannot afford an extensive vacation or an extended vacation where they have to pay a babysitter for some of that time and/or take off work with no vacation time.
There are alternatives to extended romantic getaways. These getaways are great because they can be customized to your taste as well as your budget needs.
The great thing about weekend getaways is that you can get away during any season, snow or shine, and you will find plenty to do while you are away. Or you can do nothing at all, if that is your pleasure.
Reserve a room at your local Bed and Breakfast or nice quint hotel that has an atmosphere and amenities for couples, similar to the amenities Senza Hotel is offering couples. This hotel has a Romance & Rejuvenation package aimed to help the couple unwind, relax and enjoy what Napa has to offer.

What better way to end the summer than to take a weekend getaway; especially if you did not get the opportunity to go away with your love over the summer. You can enjoy the fall season in all its abundance in so many ways.

* Go apple and pumpkin picking
* Go antiquing

What is your favorite season to getaway with your spouse?
Thanks for the great romantic getaway tips! What I’ve been wanting to do with my husband is to stay at a B&B in the mountains (NC). Perhaps we’ll finally get to do that without the kids!
This sounds like a perfect getaway for Valentine’s Day! I would love to do this with my hubby!
Great post and I love your recommendations for weekend getaways. It can be hard to plan time just your the two of you.
Thankfully I have family! Mom and Dad love spending time with the Grand kids! Looking forward to coming back to your blog.
Learned about you from the UBC!
I love the idea of “still dating my spouse” — so fun!
You have some good ideas here — and really, just a good reminder that we really do need to spend quality time away from everyone and everything with our spouse to maintain and even deepen the relationship. Takes work, but oh so worth it!
My husband and I have always believed in weekend getaways and even when we may not have had the income we still made sure to schedule time away from our house so we couldn’t get lost in the distractions of our day to day life. Often times that means just going to a friend’s house in another city and sometimes that is just enough to make us feel like have gotten away from it all. All that being said, if I had to choose one place for a weekend getaway it would be NYC…my husband would choose Vegas 🙂
Right now I would choose teh beach weekend for sure. Although a b&b with out kids would be great too.
We took a getaway to the Smokes once. It would be fun to do it again and stay in a cabin and see all the leaves.
we love going to the beach in the summer. St Augustine is our favorite place.
What great ideas! We used to do this on a regular basis during the early years of our marriage, but with our 24th anniversary coming up next month, these times seem to have dwindled away. We’re just too busy. Not a good excuse. You’ve lit a fire under me!
I love getting away for the weekend!
We go away 1 night every month. Been doing it past 15 years. Im 75 & hubby is 82. Great post.
Definitely summer! Walking on the boardwalk, or going to an outdoor concert together, it is my favorite time of year!
Fantastic ideas. Always good to get away. Even if your a granny and grandpa.
The beach always sounds like a great idea for a romantic getaway!
I would love to get away for the weekend. Thanks for the great ideas.
I love using air BnB for a getaway weekend! Haven’t done it much since Gracie was born (she just turned 4), so I’d say me and the hubby are in need!
Thanks for posting different get away ideas with the spouse. It is very informative.
These are great ideaa for dating on the road. Just being away from home to the night is really refreshing.
I could totally go for a little b&b action right now!
I really would like to focus more on Daddy and me this year. Need to take some of your tips and put them into play!
I would love to grab the hubby and do this for a weekend! We sure could use it to!
These are some great ideas and it’s great that spouses are still dating. I hope to meet that special someone one day!
I would love to have a weekend getaway, even though I have no spouse to share it with. It’s a much more manageable solution than trying to break away for a week or longer — less expensive, too. And it helps keep you fresh. Thanks for the reminder.
I’ve heard great things about Tybee Island and have never been. I love a weekend away! They rarely happen around here.
We just booked a weekend at Disney for our anniversary. It’s something we haven’t really tried before!
I would love to getaway for a few days with my hubby. We have two kids and getting a a babysitter for that long is not an option.
Oh how fun! I know you will have a great time.
We love Tybee Island. Great place to visit.
