Allergy season is in full effect here in TN. If you are like me and 35 million other Americans, you may suffer from allergies and thought it was just a Summer cold. I can’t be down with a cold or allergies, it’s too pretty outside and I need to be out enjoying the weather, but…
Is it a Cold or is it Allergies?
For the last week and a half, I’ve been asking that question. I’ve had a runny nose, congestion but no fever. I wasn’t sure if I should take cold mess or something for allergies.
Since I know a cold comes and go pretty quickly but allergies can last for weeks and even months, I leaned more on the allergy side of what was going on with me.
I normally don’t suffer from allergies so in my research, I learned that:
• If you have a fever, it’s not allergies! A fever is sometimes present with a cold, but will never occur with allergies.
The thing about allergies is they attack you around the same time of year. Yep when the pollen is heavy. It’s impossible to keep you and your family from coming in contact with pollen so your best bet is to find relief quickly.
There are plenty of options. Purchase over the counter allergy meds, make an appointment with your doctor or visit a MinuteClinic. The nurse practitioners and physician assistants at MinuteClinic can recommend the right over the counter medications specifically to fight your allergies.
I know for me trying to diagnose myself had me in the bed a week longer. Not what I wanted and never want to do again. Now that I know the signs and symptoms of when allergies attack me, I can treat it faster.
Do you suffer from allergies? What remedies have you taken?
I have received promotional consideration from MinuteClinic; however, the allergies are all mines and the opinions in this post are mines.
