This blog post is part of a paid SocialMoms and Cricket Wireless #STSA blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own.
Let me go ahead and say it, I am a wife of a trucker. Whoosh, I’m glad I finally let y’all in on our secret. Haha, just joking — we have never hidden the fact that our marriage is built over the road.
With my husband being a truck driver, we definitely must be creative in dating and staying connected. I’m not crazy — I know he has to work because I need to eat, so that means I must accept his career choice.
Truckers have one of the loneliest jobs ever. My husband is in his truck 16 hours or more a day. He gets an opportunity to see the countryside and I enjoy riding with him sometimes.
While riding with him, I learn about the trucking business. There’s nothing like listening to the passion your spouse has about their job or hobby.
Now don’t get me wrong, being a trucker’s wife is not an easy job. Many truckers are gone days (and for some, weeks) at a time. The distance can put a strain on your marriage, if you let it happen.
As a trucking family, we utilize our cellphones probably more than most couples. Our phones are our lifeline so it’s imperative we have good phones and excellent service.
There are times that my husband will be high in the mountains or even in lowland areas. Wherever the highway takes him, I want to be able to get him on the phone. I’m spoiled like that. I need to hear his voice every day, all day.
Staying connected, more coverage areas, and great phone plans are important for us. Cricket offers all of that + Auto-Pay discount: Get $5 off your bill each month. This is excellent for truck drivers and their families. Or if you have a big family try the Group Save discount and save with each eligible line you add, up to $100/mo. If you’re already using a phone you love, Cricket allows you to BYOD (bring your own device) as well.
When most wives are purchasing gifts for their husband’s office, I’m purchasing gifts to make my husband feel more connected to home when he’s away. Cricket Wireless offers affordable plan pricing with excellent cell phone service including a reliable nationwide network that covers 98% of Americans.
New network, great service and amazing value — that’s today’s Cricket!
I love my trucker. I love being a trucker’s wife.

Although my hubby is not a trucker, he drives and works very long hours so I can relate to this in a way. Like you and your hubby, we utilize our cellphones a lot. I’m glad to know that there is a reliable cell phone service out there like Cricket Wireless.

My uncle is a truck driver. He and my aunt just celebrated 50 years of being married. 🙂 He did provide very well for his family of five, but I know it must have been hard to be away from them so much.

Cell phones are one of the best things that have happened for marriages. They allow us to stay in contact and keep our spouses close and connected even when they are thousands of miles away.

I have no doubt that being married to a trucker is hard on a relationship! It would really be difficult for me to get used to. But I love that with some concentrated effort on making time count and seriously good cell service, it works for you guys. 🙂
