Communication is a process. The process of sharing yourself, your ideas, and your thoughts with someone is the basis of communication. The tricky part about communication, which most people, especially couples, fail at is communicating in a way that the other person accepts and understands you.
In communication there must be a: talker and a listener. The talker must be able to convey their thoughts in a way that will help the listener understand what they are saying without losing the context of the message. To be successful at communicating with your spouse, you need to learn to combine both communication style.
Communication in marriage is about connecting with your spouse and humbling yourself enough to understand your spouse without causing your spouse to shut down the communication channel.
I invite you to join me and other couples on a 31 Day challenge, starting today, to improve the communication in your marriage and the way you view and approach communicating with your spouse.
Today, I ask you to write down or even discuss with your spouse: the marriage mission. Decide on what your marriage stands for and what example are you setting with your marriage.
Trust me, understanding what your marriage is all about will drive how you and your spouse communicate with each other!
