Help us settle a discussion. As many of you know we have granddaughters and I’m telling the husband it’s time we start the three year old doll collection. I want to give her an American Girl doll but the husband is saying she’s too young. Is she too young?
We bought her a doll when she was a couple months old (and she still plays with it). I just think it’s time to upgrade her especially since zulily.com has American Girl dolls, clothes and accessories on sale today, up to 30% off!
Have you purchased your daughter or granddaughter an American Girl doll?
I’m thinking that since he’s a “guy” he doesn’t understand the importance of dolls but really the American Girl doll.
The first set of girls got their “lifelong” dolls (collectables) around this age. I think he’s playing amnesia and not wanting to keep the tradition going. Lol
Since American Girl items always go fast at zulily, I just may win this showdown because I cannot miss this sale! (Yes I’m a bargain shopper) lol
What do you guys think?
Maybe, I can show him the savings and we can buy now and give to her later. Hmmm, that’s a win win, right? Lol
Anyway, check out the sale now >> American Girl Sale – Up to 30% Off
These are the items I’m thinking about getting for the three year old.

I have 2 sons, so it was hot wheels and wrestling action figures for me. BUT I have 4 nieces and they all L.O.V.E American Girl Dolls! I recently went by an AGD store in Atlanta and I almost adopted a daughter just so I wouldn’t look crazy walking around “oohing and aahhing”! LOL
I say get th doll on sale and save it for when she’s a little older. win win!

I started my daughter with soft dolls and then moved up to a Corelle at 1. I got my daughter an American Girl Doll at 3, but it was way too young! Now she is 5 and just starting to care for it. I might get her a historical American Girl Doll for her 6th birthday.

I always thought American Girl dolls were just crazy expensive. But if you are finding a great deal, I’d say it’s a good time to get one

Your never to little for a doll! I get it they are a bit expensive but they are good quality and they will last a long time!

I think that getting her the doll isn’t a bad idea at all. Although, I would wait a bit until I started buying lots of clothing and accessories for the doll. You wouldn’t want her to loose them!

Great post! My 10 year old has been asking for years, but I know once I get her one, her 6 year old twin sisters will be asking! They are so cute though!

I am totally useless to this conversation. I have one child, and he’s a boy, so no dolls in our house. =(

I have two girls and they absolutely LOVE American Girl Dolls! I started them out with cheaper dolls just to see how they handled them then once they got older I gave them American Girl Dolls. I think they appreciate them more now as they know the value.

I would buy early, give later! I got my doll around 6 or 7 and it was SO important to me (I still have Molly) because I was aware of the books and all that the doll and her story entailed.

I love the American Doll collection. My daughter had one when she was little. I think she still has it and she is nineteen now.

We have a few dolls. We bought one first hand but the others we have gotten as hand me downs or bought second hand.
