Look, I’m the first to tell couples to enjoy date night & try new things. But I must admit I’ve been a fraud. The hubby and I truly do enjoy our date nights but many of times my fear of things will cause us not to venture out (too far.)
We’ve traveled to many places. Had fun doing things together but just the other day I realized we are truly missing out on living life together!
Las Vegas is truly our “what happens on DateCation™ stays on DateCation™” spot. We really let our hair down when we go to Vegas. So we thought….
Not only have we visited the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, we have truly enjoyed the nightlife in Vegas.
However, my sister and her fiance’ went to Vegas and I realized our feet stay on the ground. We have fun in Vegas. We’ve danced. We’ve laughed. We’ve eaten (good). We’ve toured. We’ve even visited Fremont Street but we literally stayed on the street.
My sister and brother-in-law go to Vegas and swing from the atmosphere.
I’m like, wait? What? Y’all did what? Yes, they zipped lined over Fremont Street. Listen, we see that every time we go to Vegas but NEVER HAVE TRIED IT.
Why?
I’m looking at their pictures like “damn they look like they are having fun!”
My husband and I have told ourselves that we can’t do stuff like that & that we are too heavy (weight wise) to zip line!
What a bunch of bull!!!!
When you allow the unknown to keep you from the present, you miss out on creating memorable experiences. I know there are several times the hubby and I have said we will zip line or even skydive (now, we may NEVER do this lol) then instantly, excuses of why not comes up!
After seeing my sister and future husband venture out & just DO IT, I’m more determined this year for the hubby and I to do something we’ve always wanted to but allowed FEAR to keep us from it.
So on my CRUSH FEAR LIST are:
1. Zip Line
2. Snorkel
3. Ride a Motorcycle
4. Sky Dive (I’m adding it but this one is definitely on the bottom of the list)
I’m sure we are not the only ones that allow fear to keep us from having more incredible date nights. I know of couples that won’t go dancing because one or both fear they would look crazy dancing. How about the spouse who refuses to do karaoke because they fear folks wouldn’t want to hear them murder a hit?
Fear truly is false evidence appearing real. Who cares if you are not John Travolta on the dance floor. Your spouse enjoys dancing with you, so go out & dance.
Who cares if you don’t sound like Whitney Houston when you sing? Shit, it’s not about being perfect but more so of enjoying the moment with your spouse.
So, I’m encouraging y’all with my transparency, don’t let fear hold your Date Night options hostage. Get over the fear! Plan a date that will get you out your comfort zone.
I know I am. I’ll let y’all know when I scratch off one of the items in my CRUSH FEAR list.
What’s on your crush fear list?

My motto this year and for life is to live fearlessly. This year I have faced my fear of open waters by taking a cruise and my fear of falling my zip lining.

Wow. I’m lucky to get a date night to dinner and a movie with my hubby these days and have never been to Vegas. My 7 year old does ok but my 1-year-old is pretty demanding. Ziplining looks like tons of fun though. It’s something I might be willing to try one day. But skydiving?…..nope. I’m way too chicken. Lol

I try not to let fear keep me from doing anything in life. It’s always more fun to take the chance!

I will tell you that yes we are this way! My kids are 8 & 6 and still I have a hard time leaving them for too long! BUT, my husband and I have never been away together overnight alone since before kids!

The movies is a perfectly fine date night! ???????????? I WILL NOT be skydiving. I can barely get my husband on a rollercoaster. LOL

Wow! That looks so cool but I don’t think I’d have the courage to do it! I have a fear of heights so that definitely gets in the way lol!
Milena says
I love it! I’m all about trying new things every year. I have ziplined, but I’d love to it in Vegas!

Woah, you do date night big! This would be amazing to zipline over Vegas! I have wanted to do this when we have been there but never seem to find the time to do it. It looks awesome!

Yeah, we gotta make more time to do challenging things as well when we go to Vegas.

LOL trust and believe me, we probably will NEVER skydive either because just like your husband, we don’t do rollercoasters! LOL but it never hurts to dream, right? lol
