Well, we are in the home stretch to an awesome Super Bowl in a couple of weeks. Our teams, Piitsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans) will not play in the Super Bowl this year but that doesn’t keep us from having a Super Bowl party.
Tackling a Super Bowl party doesn’t have to leave you feeling sacked! Gear up with these winning ideas by Jennifer Carver, of Spaceships and Laser Beams. Jen is sharing ideas for pigskin inspired party invitations, gridiron goodies and defense loving decorations.
Kick off your Super Bowl party plans with a solid invitation! Send out football shaped invitations with party details. These can be hand cut from brown cardstock with white football laces drawn on, or printed from, designs offered online. Or, how about attaching party details to a pom pom, mini football or megaphone? Invitees are sure to rally for such a fun event!
Score big by planning for a great array of touchdown treats! Baked fresh or store bought staples, like brownies and cookies, can be easily embellished to reflect the football theme. Use a football shaped cookie cutter and add white frosting “laces”. Dip strawberries in chocolate and pipe white chocolate on the fronts of each. Decorate green popcorn treat boxes with white yard lines and serve up peanuts and popcorn (or these). Add team colored cupcake wrappers and printable themed toppers to your favorite cupcakes. Fill jars with concession style treat favorites—cotton candy, licorice whips and more!
Don’t forget to add other stadium favorites to your menu if guests will be around for a typical meal hour. Include tailgating favorites like hot wings, soft pretzels, hot dogs and more for a quick meal add-on, if desired. These can be packaged for individual consumption in fry containers, small treat bags or food baskets. Invite guests to bring their favorite snack to share as well. Chips, dip, sliders, fries and nachos are all great options.
Fill up coolers or plastic buckets with a variety of drinks. Consider embellishing water bottles with black and white striped “referee” style paper and mini whistles. Or, wrap beverages in opposing team colors and line beverages up facing each other.
Decorations for a football party can be as simple or elaborate as you’d like to make them. Convert Astro turf into table runners by purchasing the desired lengths from home improvement stores and adding white electrical tape yard lines (or other variations such as ribbon or spray paint). PVC pipe and accompanying connector pieces can be fashioned into goal posts. Round up fan gear such as pom poms, foam #1 fingers, megaphones, and spirit wear to display around your party space. Mini footballs, jerseys and helmets make for some awesome décor! Add in bleacher style “seating” for appetizers and snacks by constructing simple risers out of foam core board or scraps of wood. Add football themed plates, napkins and cups to reinforce the theme even more!
Now that you’re geared up with plenty of high efficiency ideas, have fun planning your Super Bowl party! Mix in a few of my ideas with your own for one impressive celebration. You’re sure to score a touchdown with the home crowd!
