Its Christmas time! Yeah…. Most are planning some wonderful activities for Christmas Day or Christmas Eve but what about starting or enhancing a Christmas tradition: 12 Days of Christmas.
This is a busy time of year and as couples we can get so busy that we will forgo “quality time” because we say we will make up for it on Christmas or after the holidays. Well, I am here to tell you not to forgo quality time. So I invite you to participate in my spin on 12 Days of Christmas.
12 Days of Christmas rules:
- Each day you do something fun & creative
- The items you give will increase with the days…so again be creative
- Don’t spend a lot of money. This is about being CREATIVE and having fun.
- Oh did I mention have fun & be creative!
12 Days of Christmas for the Married folks:
Day Number 1: Give your spouse a card/note about the one thing that caught your eye when you first meet. Make it cute & even rhyme if you can.
Day Number 2: Things that come in two! Give your spouse something that comes as a set & will remind him/her of your marriage. (Example: I would give my spouse Reeses cups. With a note: We are as good as peanut butter and chocolate! (yeah I know corny but it would put a smile on his face).
Day Number 3: Give your spouse 3 different small tokens today that would make them remember your third date, third anniversary. Spread the gifts out: give one in the morning, give one midday, and the last one before bedtime.
Day Number 4: Today give your spouse a gift that is especially FOUR them. This gift should be something that they can use or enjoy only. Examples: their favorite perfume, golf balls, a video game, etc.
Day Number 7: Give your spouse a gift that weighs 7 pounds. (I told you to get creative)
Day Number 8: Give your spouse a note with 8 clues about their gift today. Play the guessing game all day, but make it fun. Give them their gift when they get home.
Day Number 9: Send your spouse a text message & tell them to meet you at 9am or 9pm at your local hotel/motel for a naughty morning or night. Make this fun. If you can’t do the hotel have them meet you at your favorite go to spot!
Day Number 11: Give your spouse a CD with 10 of their favorite songs and one song of you singing a song to them. Ok Ok, well put a song on their that reminds you of them. Now remember you only get to put one song that you like on the CD. Make sure the CD is full of the music they like.
Day Number 12: Give your spouse a calendar (go to Dollar Store & buy a pocket/wall calendar) & you write in 12 “coupons” he can redeem each month. So each month will have something that your spouse can ask or get from you. Make this fun.

I would give my spouse things that he likes. But also things to do together. Like buy him a new DVD we can watch together.

What great ideas! The CD of songs reminds me of the mixtapes kids used to make for each other back in the day. Very cute and very thoughtful!
