I was perusing a fellow sister blogger, Uncommon Chick blog and she had engaged her readers and Facebook Fans in a fun activity and I thought I would steal borrow this idea for my readers.
As married folks, we have a story to tell. Each of our marriages are a testimony not only for us and God but can help others as well. So I thought it would be fun to find out what magazine other couples vision themselves on as the cover story and what story would they share in a magazine article.
The best place to find married couples is on my Facebook fan page and my Twitter page. I love the couples I interact with on a daily basis. There is some true love out here and we don’t mind letting people know about marriage, our marriage, and the beauty of marriage.
So, with me posing the question to others I had to ask myself and the hubby what magazine would we like to be on & what would we share. It was almost instant that we said we would be on the cover of: STILL DATING MY SPOUSE (yes, it’s a dream of ours) and our feature story would be: Dating Your Spouse is very important to the life of your marriage! However, the free website, FakeaZine, did not have the magazine title Still Dating My Spouse so we opted for Food & Wine (just for this demonstration). We all know that some form of food & drink is incorporated into our date night so this was a fitting choice (lol).
But I didn’t want to be selfish and only share what we thought would be a good magazine cover, so I am including a few of the responses I got from the couples on my pages. Great responses & if you missed this activity or any activity, you should “LIKE” Still Dating My Spouse fan page & follow us on Twitter.
IDEAL MARRIAGE COVER STORIES:
Magazine: Thriving Family
Why this magazine: Because it goes out to Christian couples and I’d likely be talking about how our faith is important to us and how God has worked in our relationship.

Shannon & Selena:
Magazine: Life
Why this magazine: The word “Life” is very complex just like marriages. In life and marriage, you are dealt a hand that you must adapt to. Our story would be about “How to make a long distance relationship work.” Yes, it can work but you cannot allow “Life” to detect or get in the way of having a successful marriage regardless of the miles between you and your spouse.

Magazine: Essence
Why this magazine: His Second Chance at Love! After experiencing marriage before and it wasn’t a positive experience, men and women can get a SECOND CHANCE AT LOVE. Don’t give up on love or hold grudges against the opposite sex just because you experienced a bad marriage. Who could imagaine getting a second chance at love and having your wife and exwife sharing the same birthday? Or how about your current wife daughter and your son have the same birthday? Yep, it can happen. This couple has a TESTimony about second chances at love! It can happen. It is real & everlasting.

Magazine: Essence
Why this magazine: This particular magazine often highlights the beauty of being Black, Beautiful, and Beyond…we discussed this magazine in regards to how we feel about our growing family together as man and wife. We love the essence of Black love in our household. We adore the idea of striving to be the best we can be inside our home and outside our home. A feature story in Essence magazine would be focused on how we’ve taken our whirlwind courtship of six months to a healthy marriage going on two and a half years. We would encourage other soon to be married and currently married people to seek out the positive in their relationship, focus on the good that can come from sticking together, and praying together when they have the urge to give up. We also would encourage other young couples (married or not) to worry about THEM and not what everyone else wants for THEM. This has helped us get where we are now, and our dedication is the essence of the Talley household.

Chris & Cari:
Magazine: Garden & Gun
Why this magazine: It is published in South Carolina and while it holds on to southern tradition, it is a very well rounded magazine. The headline would be: Made in the South Awards: Power Couples. The Made in the South Awards are a series that the magazine does. One thing that I’ve noticed about us that differs from other couples that we know is that even though we each have our own interests, we take an interest in each other’s hobbies. For instance, I’m not a gamer, but Chris is. Because I’m not going to sit very long and play a game, I help him with his website and clan. In return, he makes sure to make time for the games we enjoy playing together. We make date nights of playing games. Chris doesn’t have an interest in the many many projects I take on, but he is always there to lend me a hand if it gets to big, tell me that its okay to quit, and give me a big hug when I succeed. We also have many interests alike. We both love to camp, watch funny movies, and we laugh A LOT. Just because you aren’t interested in something your spouse is doesn’t mean you can’t help and get involved- there is always more than one aspect of an activity. When you teach each other things, it brings you closer together. I always love it when Chris teaches me something. Also- never go to bed angry- do whatever it takes.

I really enjoyed this activity. The couples here represent the newlyweds, the not so newlywed couples, and the seasoned couples. We all had fun talking about this and helping others.
