The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.-James 5:16 NLT
Prayer!
We all are aware of the act of prayer. Some of us pray daily, all throughout the day, and pray religiously to God. We understand that prayer is powerful and effective.
With that being the case, I must ask you how often do you earnestly and unselfishly pray for your spouse and pray together?
Yes, you may be thinking: my marriage is good. We are not having any problems so the prayers I’m praying is working. I don’t need to chance anything. Well that may be true, but you never know when an attack on your marriage, your husband, your children, or you is coming. Only God knows this and you must have built a relationship with God to even know it is him you need to lean on during this time.
Ok, nope this is not a preaching post but I want us to understand that when we are faced with hiccups in our marriage, don’t downbeat our spouse because they made a mistake; instead take it to God and leave it there. Continue to be the spouse you are supposed to be and loving your spouse like instructed by God.
Prayer checklist:
- 1. Plan a daily prayer time.
- 2. Don’t get in the habit of saying quick prayers (or just a prayer before bedtime); however, make it your resolve to open up your heat, mind, and spirit to God and be honest with God about your needs and circumstances.
- 3. Pray to God to chance YOU and through you your marriage will make a turn for the better
- 4. Dedicate at least ONE meal time that you and your spouse will share the food & a prayer together. Meaning sitting at the same table and enjoying the time together. (Quality Time)
- 5. Pray daily for your spouse to resist temptation and to be a walking example of a committed spouse.
I don’t have to tell you that marriage is hard because you already know that. You also understand that seeking the advice of family & friends is not always beneficial to your marriage. So get in the habit of sharing your marriage most intimate secrets with God and allowing him to be the voice of reason.
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.-Hebrew 4:16 NIV
What are some ways you can implement more prayer time for your family?

Great advice Pamela. I must admit that my wife and I don’t have a regular prayer time.

We must pray for our husbands and our family. You are right as you never know when your family is going to be tempted.
